Come join me on the inaugural #afreeblackgirl International Freedom Trip to two of my favorite travel destinations — Lisbon and Porto, Portugal!

Lisbon, Europe’s second oldest capital city, has become an increasingly popular place to visit in recent years. You will find excellent quality food there (especially seafood and their famous custard tarts) along with tranquility, great accommodations and nightlife for a fraction of the cost of some of Europe’s other capital cities. Built on seven hills, which means great views, Lisbon has 290 days of sunshine a year, beautifully tiled buildings and amazing street art.

Porto, the second largest metropolitan area in Portugal after Lisbon with a small city feel, is located on the Douro River where it flows into the Atlantic. Famous for Port wine, a World Heritage site city center, impressive architecture, great restaurants and nightlife, Porto is also a thriving international business city.

On the #afreeblackgirl International Freedom Trip to Portugal, we will visit the country’s two major cities in their prime and be able to reflect individually and collectively on the significance of being FREE. I have limited the group to only 10 women travelers, including me, to allow for the building of sisterhood and deep, personal reflections.
